Why Future Counsel, and Why Now
An introduction to a publication devoted to the profession's most consequential transformation.
By The Editors · July 1, 2026 · 4 min read

The legal profession has weathered many technological shifts: the typewriter, the fax, the database, the internet. None arrived with the speed or reach of artificial intelligence.
Future Counsel exists to examine that change with the rigor of a law review and the readability of a magazine. We will report on practice, strategy, regulation, marketing and the people shaping what comes next.
We are optimistic but not credulous. We believe AI can make legal services better, cheaper and more accessible — and that it will only do so if lawyers lead with judgment.
Welcome. We are glad you are here.
